So lonely :-( Ingat at mahals sa iyong lahat, Christine # Thursday, February 06, 2003 ( 2:30 AM ) Malyn musta sa inyong lahat.... updates about navotas... two weeks ago, may sunog sa barangay: bagong bayan. ate alma, an organizer there told me that some of you visited this area. VUR and Akbayan have been working on distributing canned goods to families. in total: 500 homes were burnt, a total of 2000 families affected. 3 people died, isang matandang babae at dalawang bata. i'm sure you remember that the houses are dikit-dikit so fire spreads quickly. the house was also kinda in the middle of the barangay and not tabing ilog--partly the reason why there were so many homes that burned. also, VUR is starting to gear up daw kasi 2003 is the target year for the completion of demolitions. when they were initially announced, people thought di tutuloy, kasi information was distributed 1998 but there wasnt anything major until last year. they are still working on petitioning the violations from the demolitions in Citri & Pescador. more updates to come, as they are available... # |
